Industrial Change, New Bedford, MA

New Bedford, MA, January 1941. Library of Congress.
Being struck by the juxtaposition between industrial and residential ones. Have just finished lecturing on economic geography and thinking about the way that globalization - the increasing mobility of industrial activity - makes it possible for the industry to move but the residents to stay. But also thinking one of my student's discussion of 'toxic memories' - thinking about the kinds of legacies of industrial activity (both in MA and in Syracuse).
