This city is always illuminated, but during Ramadan even more so. We might talk about views -- and to look,
bakmak, at them -- and the way they bring the city into being. If our sense of what a city is comes to be shaped by the ways that we see it, then we might begin to talk about views like this -- from Pierre Loti (or İdlis-i Bitlis, depending on your persuasion), the ridge of the old city topped with mosques.
