Dawn, Haliç

Old infrastructures never die in Istanbul; they're only moved up the Golden Horn. This is the old Galata Bridge -- which until recently has been sitting in parts near Eyüp. Recently, however, someone hit upon the idea of using it as a fourth bridge across the Golden Horn in the hopes of alleviating traffic.

All of which explains how I found myself walking back along the Haliç at 5:30 the other morning. Bridge, lights, and water almost like glass.

Ramazan seems to have turned you into a man of few words and many pictures: these are lovely.

And we'll have to do something about the afterlives of infrastructures, one of these days.
